Masking and camouflaging refers to when a neurodivergent person consciously or subconsciously hides their traits to fit into a neurotypical world.
Pathological demand avoidance also known as persistent drive for autonomy is part of the autistic neurotype/subtype of autism. Someone with a PDA profile may have a heightened and anxiety-driven need for freedom and control. Coupled with a highly sensitive nervous system the demands of everyday life can trigger automatic stress responses (e.g., flight, fright, fight, flop or fawn) in an attempt to avoid or cope with these demands.

Yes. The SEND Code of Practice (2015) makes it clear that there is no basis in law for the Local Authority to reject a professional report simply because it was privately obtained. If this happens, we will support you in making a complaint, asking the Local Authority to explain why they are ignoring the private diagnosis.
The short answer is yes. We know that for some people it can feel too stressful of difficult to visit an unfamiliar place. We'd be happy to talk through the different options for assessment location.
