    Dr Steven Carnaby,

Chief Executive & Consultant Clinical Psychologist

    What is my experience?

I’ve worked with adults and children with learning disabilities and autistic adults and children for over 35 years in a range of roles. I started my career as a support worker and then managed supported living services for a while before going into teaching and research at the Tizard Centre, University of Kent. I qualified as a clinical psychologist in 2001, and I am HCPC registered. I have extensive experience in providing neurodevelopmental assessments and deliver a range of training and consultancy to teams and organisations. I also have lived experience as a carer.

    How would I describe myself?

I am easy to talk to and I like to listen. I try hard to understand what others want to tell me. I use my skills to think with people about the meaning of their challenges so that together we can work out possible ways forward. The people I serve continue to help me understand how I can be of most help to them, even when situations feel hopeless and overwhelming. Empowering partnership is very important to me and this lies at the heart of everything I do.
